A Russian attack targeted port infrastructure in Ukraine’s Izmail district in the southern Odesa region overnight, Ukrainian authorities said on Monday.
The authorities said fires caused by the attack had been extinguished, without providing further details on the extent of the damage.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had struck military targets at the port, including a berthing terminal used to unload vessels carrying military cargo, hangars containing Western military equipment and depots for naval drones.

Izmail, located near the Romanian border, is home to Ukraine’s largest port on the Danube River.

In a separate attack, Russia said its forces had struck a patrol boat and fuel storage tanks in Odesa.
The local governor said a civilian vessel flying the Togo flag was damaged in the attack, while four people were injured.
