Jandor Congratulates Newly Inaugurated Lagos Council Leaders

Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on Nigerians to reject politics of bitterness and division.

Adediran, who was the 2023 Lagos State PDP governorship candidate, made this statement on Thursday to mark the 32nd anniversary of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.

The presidential election, widely believed to have been won by the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, was annulled on 23 June 1993 by General Ibrahim Babangida.

The APC chieftain stated that Nigerians must never forget the heroes of that era, including the incumbent President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Today, 12 June our Democracy Day is not merely a commemoration of an annulled election; it is a celebration of the resilience of our people and a reminder of the price paid by many to safeguard every Nigerian’s right to freely choose their leaders.

“Now, more than ever, we must rise above politics of division and unite in building a stronger, more inclusive nation one where the dreams of the average citizen are not only valid, but achievable.

“The task of building that future lies in our hands, and we must not relent.

“On this Democracy Day, let us recommit ourselves to the ideals of freedom, unity, accountability, and people-centred governance.

“Let us honour the sacrifices of our past heroes by playing our part in creating a future worthy of their struggle,” he said.

According to Adediran, 12 June is a solemn day of reflection a day to honour the courage of those who stood on the frontlines of the struggle, and a day to reaffirm Nigeria’s collective commitment to the principles of good governance.

“As we remember the historic 12 June 1993 presidential election, we must also acknowledge the sacrifices of the true heroes of that era men and women who dared to challenge the forces of oppression and stood firm in defence of democratic values.

“Among these heroes is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a courageous figure whose contributions during the pro-democracy struggle must never be forgotten,” Adediran said.

He added that Tinubu’s unwavering stand in the face of military repression, and his sustained advocacy for the return of civilian rule, are legacies that continue to inspire generations.

“As we commemorate this day, we salute Mr President for his role in securing the democracy we all enjoy today,” he said.

Reiterating his commitment to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at birthing the Nigeria of everyone’s dreams, Adediran called for continued support for the President.
