Prince Harry, Meghan Plan Return to Britain

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, plan to return to Britain this month, six years after stepping down from royal duties and moving to the United States, according to reports.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to move from California to a private residence outside London, where they will live with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The children are expected to begin attending a British school in September.

King Charles was reportedly informed of the planned move on Sunday. While the King welcomes the prospect of spending more time with his son and grandchildren, there are no plans for Harry or Meghan to resume official royal duties.

The couple will continue to live as private individuals, with no expected change to their official status. Prince William and his wife, Catherine, have also been informed of the plans.

Family Relations

Harry and Meghan left the UK and stepped back from royal duties in early 2020 before moving to California.

Relations with the wider royal family have remained strained since then, although recent contact between Harry and his father has suggested some improvement.

In July, Harry, Meghan and their children visited Charles at his Highgrove home in Gloucestershire. The King saw Archie and Lilibet in person for the first time in more than four years.

The meeting was described by Buckingham Palace as a private family occasion. However, the planned relocation was not discussed during the visit, with Charles reportedly unaware of the couple’s intentions until the following weekend.

Security Dispute

Security arrangements remain a major issue for Harry and his family during visits to Britain.

The Duke has previously challenged decisions concerning his police protection, arguing that security arrangements have made it difficult to bring his family to the UK.

Last year, Harry lost a legal challenge over the level of security provided to him and his family while in Britain.

The planned move would bring the Sussexes closer to the royal family while allowing them to maintain their lives as private citizens.
