The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State has commenced a verification exercise for its members as part of efforts to reposition the party.
This was disclosed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Mike Ojisi, during a press briefing following a State Working Committee meeting on Friday in Calabar.
Ojisi stated that the initiative aims to identify genuine party members across all 18 local government areas of the state, adding that the process would lay the foundation for a more united and stronger PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The verification will be carried out by the party’s local government chairmen. Our goal is to build a formidable political structure,” he said.

Commenting on recent defections from the party, Ojisi attributed them to greed and personal ambition rather than ideological differences.
He praised loyal members for their resilience and confidence in the PDP’s capacity to remain a vibrant political force.
“Do not be swayed by empty promises. Those leaving are only interested in exploiting Nigerians, having entrenched poverty in the country,” he said.
“We encourage our members to stay committed and loyal. The PDP remains Nigeria’s most credible path to a brighter and more prosperous future.”
