The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, has restated Nigeria’s commitment to achieving a daily production target of 10 billion Standard Cubic Feet (SCF) of gas by 2030.
This was contained in a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Ministry of Finance, Mr Mohammed Manga, on Thursday in Abuja.
Edun gave the assurance while receiving the management team of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) in his office. Discussions centred on critical issues shaping the future of Nigeria’s gas industry, including production targets, investment climate, and ongoing reforms.
He noted that significant progress had been made towards building a more competitive and investor-friendly environment, stressing that President Bola Tinubu’s administration had stabilised the economy and created fresh opportunities in both the manufacturing and energy sectors.

“As we implement comprehensive tax reforms, your input will be vital in shaping a more attractive business landscape,” Edun said.
Earlier, NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Philip Mshelbila, briefed the minister on the company’s operations. He highlighted stronger gas supply, improved security on the Trans-Niger pipeline, and a capacity utilisation rate above 70 per cent on infrastructure.
He further reported progress on the Bodo-Bonny Road project while advocating for an extension of the East-West Highway under the tax credit scheme.
“With renewed focus and determination, Nigeria is poised to unlock its vast energy resources and drive economic growth in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration,” Mshelbila said.
