The Nigerian Government has launched a digital portal for the upcoming Nigeria Youth Confab, a nationwide platform aimed at engaging young Nigerians in policy-making, civic dialogue, and national development.
Speaking at the launch event in Abuja, Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, described the initiative as “more than just a conference,” calling it “a generational turning point, a national movement, and a call to action.”
According to Olawande, the Confab, themed “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future,” is designed to be “inclusive, non-partisan, and youth-led.” He noted that the conference will provide an opportunity for young people to articulate ideas and solutions to national challenges.
“The portal is now live,” he announced, “And I encourage every young Nigerian to seize this opportunity to be heard and to help shape the future they want to see.”

The portal will serve as the primary platform for registration, idea submission, and updates during the 30-day youth engagement process. The government expects 36,000 young delegates 100 from each of the country’s 360 federal constituencies to participate in the initiative.
The Nigeria Youth Confab was first announced by President Bola Tinubu in his Independence Day speech on 1 October 2024, where he pledged to create a platform for the voices of young people to influence national discourse. In March 2025, the President inaugurated a 44-member planning committee to oversee the conference.
The engagement will follow a multi-layered approach, starting with diaspora consultations, grassroots involvement at the constituency level, zonal conferences in six geopolitical zones, and culminating in a national assembly in Abuja.
“We are building a bridge between young people and the state,” said Olawande. “This is not a political gathering. This is the first time in Nigeria’s history that youth from every constituency will come together to deliberate, consult and propose solutions with real impact.”
He emphasised that the goal is to move beyond mere tokenism and political promises. “We are not here to politicise the youth. We are here to listen to them, to organise their energy into policy, and to ensure that their dreams find a place in the future of this country.”
With preparations underway and the portal now active, stakeholders and youth groups are expected to begin mobilisation across the country.
