Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) ended on a bullish note on Tuesday, with gains recorded in 41 stocks, reversing the previous day’s negative sentiment amid continued profit-taking by investors.
The market capitalisation appreciated by ₦314 billion, or 0.5 per cent, to close at ₦68.357 trillion, up from ₦68.042 trillion recorded on Monday.
Similarly, the All-Share Index (ASI) rose by 501.14 basis points, also a 0.5 per cent increase, to settle at 108,762.61 points, compared to 108,261.47 points in the previous session.
At the close of trading, a total of 496.48 million units of shares were exchanged in 14,916 deals.

The session saw 41 gainers and 24 losers. CHELLARAMS and OANDO led the gainers’ chart, both posting a 10 per cent increase to close at ₦11.44 and ₦49.50 per share, respectively.
TRANSCORP followed closely with a 9.99 per cent gain, closing at ₦46.25 per share, while BETAGLAS rose by 9.96 per cent to end the day at ₦194.30 per share.
On the downside, HMCALL topped the losers’ chart with a 9.85 per cent decline, closing at ₦4.21 per share. ACADEMY PRESS lost 7.33 per cent to close at ₦4.30 per share.
UPDC shed 6.25 per cent, ending at ₦3.00 per share, while ABCTRANS declined by 6.73 per cent to close at ₦2.91 per share.
Market analysts attributed the positive performance to renewed investor interest in fundamentally sound stocks, despite intermittent bouts of profit-taking.
