Defender Dan Burn has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Newcastle United until the summer of 2027, the Premier League club announced on Saturday.

The 33-year-old, who joined Newcastle in 2021, made his senior England debut in March, just days after helping the Magpies clinch the League Cup, their first domestic title since 1955.

On Friday, England manager Thomas Tuchel included Burn in the squad for next month’s World Cup qualifier against Andorra and a friendly fixture against Senegal.

“Dan has had an exceptional season. He has played a vital role in some of our most memorable achievements and thoroughly deserves his call-up to the national team,” said Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.

Burn, who has featured in 36 Premier League matches this season, expressed his desire to remain at St James’ Park for the rest of his playing career.

“It’s a dream come true to represent this club, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to continue doing so,” he said.
