The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Command has arrested 36 suspects found in possession of various illicit substances across the state.
This was disclosed by the command’s spokesman, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, in a statement issued on Sunday in Kano.
Muhammad-Maigatari quoted the State Commander, Mr Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, as saying the arrests were made during a series of coordinated raids aimed at ensuring a safe and drug-free environment ahead of the Eid El-Kabir celebrations.
“On 30 and 31 May, the agency carried out operations in several key locations across the state, including Makabartar Dan’agundi, Kwari, Kofar Na’isa, and Kano Line,” he stated.
The command successfully recovered cannabis sativa, ‘suck and die’, diazepam, rubber solution, and other prohibited substances.

Idris-Ahmad expressed appreciation for the dedication of officers involved in the operations and reiterated the agency’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in Kano State.
“On behalf of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Brigadier-General Mohamed Buba-Marwa, we extend our best wishes to the people of Kano for a drug-free Sallah celebration,” he added.
He urged residents to celebrate responsibly and to avoid any involvement in drug trafficking or consumption.
“The NDLEA is resolute in its mission to eradicate drug abuse and trafficking from all communities.
“The agency remains vigilant and will continue its efforts to combat drug-related offences in the state,” Idris-Ahmad said.
He also encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities to help preserve a safe and healthy environment for all.
