Mojisola Meranda, Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for Apapa Constituency I, securing 2,926 votes.
The result was announced in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.
The primaries, held on Wednesday at Ijora Oloye Nursery and Primary School in Apapa Constituency I, witnessed an unprecedented turnout of APC members.
The exercise, which began around 1:00 p.m., was peaceful despite the large crowd.
Four candidates contested the sole ticket: Meranda, Esan Adedotun, Mike Egbayelo, and Elizabeth Toluwalope.
Delegates and party agents began arriving as early as 9:00 a.m., while personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps provided security at the venue.
Meranda arrived at about 12:45 p.m. to a cheering crowd and expressed appreciation for the support.
“I thank you all for the support; it is massive,” she said.
He added that her projects across Apapa Constituency I had impacted wards, supported small businesses, and earned her widespread community backing.
Another party executive, Joseph Layode, said residents had spoken through their votes and commended Meranda’s performance in office.
