Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, has launched a scholarship scheme and pledged infrastructure support for his alma mater, while also affirming his commitment to tech innovation during a visit to Ogun State.
During a homecoming to Anglican High School, Quarry Road, Abeokuta, the Minister announced a ₦100,000 scholarship and a laptop for each of the top-performing students across Junior Secondary School classes (JSS 1–3) and four senior students in SSS 1 and 2.
Tijani also adopted a school building and the science laboratory, pledging to fully renovate and equip the facilities. He emphasised the role of quality learning environments in nurturing innovation, creativity, and critical thinking.
Addressing the students, the Minister underscored the values of hard work, empathy, and kindness, which he credited for shaping his personal and professional journey. He noted that the initiative aims to reward academic excellence and ensure bright students can access quality education regardless of their financial background.
The visit also offered an opportunity for Tijani to reconnect with former classmates, who welcomed him warmly. Reflecting on his formative years, he reiterated the importance of giving back to institutions that mould future leaders.

Support for Ogun Tech Ecosystem
Earlier in the day, Dr Tijani met with members of the Ogun Tech Community in Abeokuta, where he reaffirmed the Federal Government’s support for the growth of Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.
He commended the tech community for driving innovation in the state and highlighted the Tinubu administration’s efforts to create a favourable environment for tech entrepreneurs and startups.
“Every generation gets a chance to be part of the problem or the solution. We have the opportunity to be the solution, using technology to address long-standing national challenges,” the Minister said.
He added that with Africa set to dominate the future global workforce, investing in technology and connectivity is key to enabling Nigeria to leapfrog traditional developmental hurdles.
Dr Tijani’s engagements in Ogun State reflect a broader effort to bridge policy and grassroots action, ensuring the digital economy delivers inclusive benefits across the country.
