The Chairman of the Jigawa Football Association, Â Sabo Abdullahi Dutse, also known as Sabo Eka, has called on the state government to establish a dedicated Ministry of Sports to enhance sports development.
Eka made the appeal during an interview on Tuesday in Dutse.
He noted that separating sports from the current Ministry of Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture would significantly improve the development of sports in the state.
The chairman also recommended that football experts be appointed to handle football-related matters, just as doctors are placed in charge of the health sector, engineers in construction, and lawyers in legal affairs.

Eka pointed out that several other states have already established standalone ministries of sports to boost sporting activities.
He stressed that creating such a ministry in Jigawa, and appointing qualified professionals, would help raise the standard of sports in the state particularly for Jigawa Golden Stars FC.
