Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on citizens to offer greater support to people with disabilities.
She made the appeal in a message to mark 2025 International Day for Persons with Disabilities.
She stressed that all humans are equal, highlighting the importance of treating everyone accordingly.
“Today, I join millions of Nigerians and the global community to mark the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
“This year’s theme, ‘Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress,’ calls for renewed commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and empowerment.
“This day serves as a reminder of our collective duty to build a society where everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive, participate, and contribute meaningfully to our shared progress,” she said.
The First Lady emphasised that persons with disabilities must be supported to live independently at all times.
“A truly inclusive Nigeria must ensure that persons with disabilities are supported and empowered to be independent,” she stressed.
