The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Ahmed Dangiwa, together with the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Olanipekun Olukoyede, today led a joint team on a physical inspection of a confiscated housing estate comprising 753 units.

The estate, previously associated with the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, was recovered by the EFCC and officially handed over to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development following a directive from His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the inspection, Arch. Dangiwa announced that the Ministry would immediately begin technical evaluations, including integrity testing of the buildings. Once these assessments are successfully completed, the estate will be finalised and made available for sale to Nigerians via the Renewed Hope Portal, which is already operational.

The Minister reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to transparency and accountability, urging public office holders to avoid corrupt practices. “The current administration is resolute in its fight against corruption,” he stated, commending the EFCC and its leadership for what he described as one of the most significant asset recoveries in the country’s recent history.

Arch. Dangiwa also called on Nigerians to continue trusting the EFCC and to support its ongoing efforts to recover assets for the public good.

Speaking at the event, EFCC Chairman Olukoyede clarified that previous footage seen by the public was only an aerial view of the estate. “The purpose of this visit is to confirm that the estate is indeed real,” he said, emphasising the transparency and accountability that underpin the Commission’s operations.

This site inspection represents a key milestone in integrating the recovered estate into the Federal Government’s National Social Housing Programme, reflecting President Tinubu’s commitment to affordable housing and good governance.
