The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has announced that the Nigerian Army, under his leadership, will in the coming weeks deploy additional Combat Enablers (CEs) to its operations as part of renewed efforts to combat Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgency, banditry, kidnappings, and other criminal activities plaguing the country.

Speaking at the conclusion of the 2025 First Biannual COAS Conference on Friday, held at the Command Guest House, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno State, the Army Chief emphasised that the true strength of the Nigerian Army lies not only in the weaponry deployed on the battlefield but more importantly in the courage and resolve of the gallant soldiers who wield them.

The three-day conference brought together senior Army officers, including Major Generals, Brigadier Generals, Commanding Officers, and heads of various formations across Nigeria, for robust discussions on strategic improvements to military operations.

In his closing remarks, General Oluyede stated:
“It is with deep gratitude and a sense of fulfilment that I draw the curtain on this significant occasion. As I mentioned in my previous address, the objective of this conference was to identify areas requiring improvement and to propose practical solutions that will enhance our capacity to safeguard the nation.”

He further commended the depth and clarity of discussions during the sessions, describing them as reflective of the intellectual rigour and strategic foresight needed to advance the Nigerian Army.

“I am proud to affirm that the goals of this First Biannual Conference have been largely achieved. The quality of contributions and recommendations has exceeded my expectations, and concerted efforts will be made to incorporate them into our current and future operations,” he added.

“As a key outcome of our deliberations, the Nigerian Army will induct additional combat enablers into ongoing operations in the weeks ahead.”

General Oluyede concluded by reiterating the importance of morale and commitment, noting:
“The strength of the Nigerian Army is not solely in the weapons we field, but in the indomitable spirit of the soldiers who use them.”
