Galaxy Acquire Defender Jakob Glesnes from Philadelphia Union

The Los Angeles Galaxy have acquired All-Star defender Jakob Glesnes from the Philadelphia Union, the clubs confirmed on Monday.

As part of the deal, the Galaxy will pay Philadelphia $1.1 million in guaranteed funds, with $500,000 scheduled for 2025 and $600,000 in 2027, plus an additional $1.1 million in conditional payments if the player meets specified performance targets.

The Union also traded the homegrown priority rights to academy forward Jamir Johnson, while retaining future trade rights and a sell-on percentage should Los Angeles transfer Johnson in the future.

The move is part of the Galaxy’s strategy to strengthen their defensive line ahead of the upcoming Major League Soccer season.
