The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to view environmental protection and cleanliness as a collective responsibility.
Tinubu made the appeal in Abuja on Monday while marking the 2026 International Day of Clean Energy , themed “Clean Energy for People and Planet.”
She emphasised that the day serves as a reminder for all citizens to safeguard and preserve the environment.
“I urge us all to embrace renewable energy and sustainable technologies as an essential foundation for survival, healthy living, and environmental stewardship,” she said.

“Let us work together to build a greener, healthier planet for all,” she added, wishing Nigerians a happy International Day of Clean Energy.
The International Day of Clean Energy, observed annually on 26 January, was established by the United Nations General Assembly under Resolution A/77/327.
The day aims to raise awareness and encourage action towards a fair and inclusive transition to clean energy, benefiting both people and the planet.
