An ICT firm, iShot-It App Integrated, has unveiled a new mobile application, iShot-It App, to help verify fake news and curb misinformation.
The firm introduced the innovation at a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja.
Mr Johnbull Igwe, Chief Executive Officer of the firm, stated that the app was designed to support efforts against fake news and misinformation. He added that the technology also features functions that reward users involved in content creation.
He explained that when users capture photos and videos through the app, the content is authenticated with geo-location coordinates, date, and time stamps.
According to Igwe, fake news and misinformation are twin challenges that continue to cause reputational harm in the digital space, noting that iShot-It App provides a timely and effective solution.
“It supports organic content creators, who can sell their content to media houses or be directly rewarded by the app developer through new features being introduced in the coming days.
“At its core, iShot-It is about ownership and trust. Every photo and video captured through the app is embedded with precise geo-location data, date, and time stamps.
“This creates a digital seal of authenticity that cannot be altered, ensuring that your content whether it’s a breaking news report or a personal blog post carries verifiable truth.
“With iShot-It, your audience experiences the real narrative, tied to the exact place and time it occurred.”
