The Disc Jockeys Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has unveiled the Mix Master Championship, a nationwide competition designed to discover and promote Nigeria’s top DJ talent.
Announcing the initiative in Lagos, DJAN President, Christian Edeh (DJ Perfect Intl), described it as a landmark event for the country’s DJ community. “This is more than a contest – it’s a legacy moment for Nigerian DJs,” he said.
Open only to fully registered DJAN members, the championship will run for three to four months, progressing from state contests to regional finals, and culminating in a national finale in Lagos in September 2025.
The top winner will receive ₦5 million, a brand endorsement deal, and international performance opportunities. Runners-up will also benefit from endorsements and high-profile bookings.

DJ Vickylee, head of the organising committee, said the contest was structured to ensure transparency and fair representation across all states and the FCT. “This is about recognising DJs as cultural influencers and empowering youth through music,” he said.
DJAN PRO, DJ Teazer, called the contest a game-changer for the entertainment sector. “It’s not just about skills on the deck – it’s about raising the bar for Nigerian entertainment,” he noted.
The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) endorsed the initiative, with Director-General Dr John Asein praising DJs as cultural curators and calling for ethical creativity. “Copyright is not a barrier but the foundation for rewarding originality,” he said.
Asein assured the Commission’s continued support and urged all participants to blend creativity with responsibility.
