APC Unveils 73-Member Committee Ahead of National Convention

APC Returns Yilwatda as National Chairman After Consensus Convention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a 73-member National Convention Central Coordination Committee as the party steps up preparations for its national convention scheduled for March 27–28, 2026.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as Chairman of the committee, while Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has been appointed Secretary, signalling the party’s focus on organising a smooth convention culminating in the selection of new National Working Committee members.

APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru revealed that the Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice Chairman of the committee. The announcement follows the party’s release last year of a detailed timetable for ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses across Nigeria, all leading to the national convention.

The coordination committee includes a broad representation of governors from across the country, reflecting the party’s national leadership structure. Members include Umo Bassey Eno (Akwa Ibom), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Babagana Zulum (Borno), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Peter Mbah (Enugu). Others are Muhammed Yahaya (Gombe), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Abba Yusuf (Kano), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Dikko Umaru Radda (Katsina), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Mohammed Umar Bago (Niger), Abiodun Oluseun (Ogun), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto), and Agbu Kefas (Taraba).

The committee also includes senior party leaders such as Interim National Chairman Bisi Akande, former national chairmen Adams Oshiomhole, Abdullahi Adamu, and Abdullahi Ganduje, as well as Ministers of Information and National Orientation Mohamed Idris Malagi and Defence Christopher Musa (retd.).

Legislative leaders are also represented, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, former Senate Presidents Anyim Pius Anyim, Ken Nnamani, and Ahmed Lawan, and former Speakers of the House Aminu Bello Masari, Patricia Etteh, Dimeji Bankole, Yakubu Dogara, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele.

The announcement underscores APC’s commitment to a well-coordinated national convention, aimed at setting the party’s leadership agenda and strengthening internal democracy in the selection of new executives.
