The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday reinstated Mr Emmanuel Adedokun as Chairman of Saki East Local Government.

The decision came after the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, led by Mr Olajide Akintunde, presented its report.

Akintunde explained that the committee engaged with local government officials and political stakeholders to assess the petition and develop appropriate recommendations for the House.

He noted that the investigation was carried out based on a directive from the House to look into a petition titled: “Call for Urgent Intervention and Holistic Investigation.”

As part of the investigation, the committee held meetings with the Acting Chairman, Mr Rasaq Moruf, and the Leader of the House, Mr Wahab Adebayo.

Other key figures consulted included the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr Raji Abiola; the Director of Finance and Administration, Mr Idowu; and the suspended Chairman, Mr Adedokun.

Following the committee’s findings, the House directed the Acting Chairman and the Vice Chairman to resume their previous positions as Vice Chairman and Council Leader, respectively.

The petition that led to the investigation was submitted to the Assembly on 18 March, calling for urgent intervention in the administration of Saki East under Adedokun’s leadership.

The matter was subsequently referred to the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters for a thorough review.
