The 24 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State have been safely rescued.

Security sources told the media that the students were freed following intensified joint operations by the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies, which had exerted sustained pressure on the perpetrators responsible for last Monday’s attack.

Their release comes amid growing national concern over the increasing incidence of school-related abductions across the North-West and North-Central regions.

President Bola Tinubu, in a statement issued on Tuesday evening, confirmed the girls’ release and expressed profound relief, noting that all 24 victims have now been accounted for.

He commended the efforts of the security operatives involved in the rescue and reaffirmed his administration’s steadfast commitment to protecting schools and vulnerable communities.

Authorities in Kebbi State are expected to provide further details on the operation, including the condition of the rescued students, as security agencies continue the pursuit of the kidnappers who escaped during the offensive.
