President Bola Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension of the tenures of the heads of the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service to address succession gaps and allow sufficient time for the appointment of their successors.
The extension means that Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, will remain in office until May 26, 2028, while Kemi Nanna Nandap, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, will serve until June 30, 2028.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the approval in a statement.
According to the statement, the decision followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and is intended to give the board adequate time to appoint successors to both service chiefs.
