Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has announced plans to purchase 10 shares in Dangote Refinery for each of the state’s 52,000 serving and retired civil servants as part of efforts to promote economic empowerment.
Fintiri made the announcement at an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Yola.
He said the initiative was aimed at empowering residents and supporting economic development in the state.
The governor also directed the Director-General of the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency to commence programmes to support women through various trades and vocational skills.
On the 2027 general elections, Fintiri urged APC leaders and stakeholders to put aside their differences and work together to strengthen the party’s unity.
He called on them to support the party’s Adamawa governorship candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani Galadima.
Galadima thanked the governor for convening the meeting, describing it as important to the party’s progress.
Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali, said the party’s performance in the 2027 elections would depend on the commitment and cooperation of its leaders and stakeholders.
Representatives of commissioners, board and commission chairmen, as well as the state chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), pledged their support for the party.
They also expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects across Adamawa’s 21 local government areas ahead of the elections.
