North-Central APC Stakeholders Endorse Tinubu, Shettima for 2027

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-Central zone have reaffirmed their commitment to securing the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.

The stakeholders made the commitment after a closed-door meeting on Thursday in Abuja, coordinated by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Those at the meeting included the SGF, Sen. George Akume; governors of Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa states; and other political leaders from the zone.

Also, present were the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; members of the National Assembly and other political appointees.

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, said the stakeholders had resolved to work together to secure a second term for Tinubu and Shettima.

He attributed the decision to what he described as the president’s contributions to Nigeria, particularly in the North-Central zone, in terms of projects, appointments and inclusive governance.

Yilwatda said the stakeholders would hold what he described as the “mother of all rallies” on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, to mobilise support for the president’s re-election bid.

He added that the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, would attend the rally as Special Guest of Honour.

According to him, governors, ministers, National Assembly members and other APC stakeholders from the zone have agreed to mobilise supporters for the event.

Yilwatda also announced plans to organise medical outreaches in some North-Central states after the rally to provide support for vulnerable people in the communities.

He said the stakeholders had further agreed to establish a reconciliation committee to address grievances arising from party primaries and congresses across the zone.

“We are also going to have a reconciliation committee that will go around the states to address grievances and wounds that arose during the course of the primary elections and congresses,” he said.

The APC chairman also expressed condolences to the families of Air Force personnel and civilians who died in the recent aircraft crash in Ondo State.

He commiserated with the government and people of Niger State over the deaths of miners and with families of victims of a boat mishap in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.

A minute of silence was observed at the meeting in honour of the victims of the incidents in Ondo, Niger and Benue States.
