Governor Fubara Urges Support for Tinubu Second Term Bid

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027, emphasising the need for unity, cooperation, and sustained development across the country.

Speaking while declaring open the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council meeting in Port Harcourt, the governor described Tinubu as a “dedicated and highly patriotic” leader whose administration, he said, has laid a solid foundation for national transformation.

According to Fubara, continuity in leadership would ensure the consolidation of the administration’s “bold, daring and ambitious vision” for inclusive and sustainable development.

Reflecting on the administration’s performance over the past three years, the governor pointed to ongoing economic reforms and infrastructural strides as evidence of progress under the current government. He specifically referenced major projects, including the coastal road initiative spanning southern Nigeria, as indicators of a broader developmental push.

“Although challenges remain in certain regions, we trust in Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his dedication to safeguarding our nation and delivering equitable development,” Fubara said.

Drawing a parallel with football, he added that “no coach changes a winning team,” urging Nigerians to support Tinubu’s re-election bid to maintain policy consistency and national progress.

Welcoming traditional rulers from across the South-South, South-East, and South-West regions, the governor described their presence as proof of Rivers State’s peaceful environment and readiness to host high-level engagements.

He also stressed the importance of unity among southern states despite cultural and linguistic differences.

“As a region, we must build our future together and promote the collective interests of our people. Southern cooperation and solidarity provide a practical pathway for achieving sustainable peace, security, and development,” he noted.

Fubara highlighted the critical role of traditional institutions in governance, describing them as vital links between the grassroots and government. He commended their contributions to peacebuilding and urged them to remain focused on advancing cultural, economic, and political objectives for the region.

The meeting brought together prominent royal fathers, including the Chairman of the Council, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; Co-Chairman, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya; Oba Rashidi Ladoja; and the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Chike Worlu Wodo.
