The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has elected journalist and media entrepreneur Christopher Nwosu as the new chairman of its Anambra State chapter.
Nwosu emerged through a consensus arrangement during a congress held in Awka, the state capital, where party delegates unanimously endorsed his candidacy. The process also produced a new State Executive Committee made up of more than 30 members to oversee party activities ahead of upcoming elections.
During the congress, several resolutions were adopted, including the dissolution of the outgoing executive, validation of earlier ward and local government congresses, and formal approval of a consensus-driven leadership selection process.

Party officials maintained that the exercise complied with internal party rules and provisions of the Electoral Act, although it was not observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The congress was supervised by a five-member committee from Abuja led by Fidel Ayogu, who commended delegates for conducting a peaceful and orderly exercise.
The newly constituted leadership includes Chukwuemeka Okeke as Deputy Chairman, Chugbo Enwezor as Secretary, Samuel Chukwumelu as Legal Adviser, and Nnamdi Achike as State Auditor.
In his acceptance speech, Nwosu pledged to unite party members, strengthen grassroots mobilisation, and restore public confidence in the ADC.
He described his emergence as a responsibility to serve and emphasised discipline, inclusiveness, and wider engagement as key principles guiding the new leadership.
Referencing the political legacy of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Nwosu highlighted values such as prudence and integrity as guiding principles, calling for collective efforts to expand the party’s influence across all local government areas in the state.
“As we prepare for the 2027 elections, our objective is clear: to achieve decisive victories at all levels,” he said, outlining plans for intensified mobilisation and organisational strengthening.
Party stakeholders urged the new leadership to prioritise transparency, inclusion, and internal democracy in its operations.
A senior party figure, Ndubuisi Nwobu, warned that the credibility of the executive would depend on its ability to prevent factionalism and ensure fair representation across all structures.
He cautioned against concentrating authority within a small group, urging the leadership to adopt consultation and collective decision-making as core principles.
According to him, establishing transparent mechanisms for dispute resolution and ensuring fairness in appointments would be essential to maintaining unity and positioning the party for electoral success.
