President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Professor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election as Governor of Anambra State, describing the outcome of the poll as a resounding affirmation of his visionary leadership and the remarkable progress recorded under his administration.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the people of Anambra State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies for ensuring the peaceful and credible conduct of the governorship election held on Saturday.
The President said the victory of the opposition All Grand Progressives Alliance (AGPA) in the election reflected the strength of Nigeria’s democracy, where “victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied.”
He noted that Soludo’s re-election, which secured him a second term in office, placed him among the few leaders in Anambra’s political history to achieve such a feat.
“Professor Soludo’s re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance,” Tinubu stated.
Highlighting his visit to Anambra in May 2025, where he inaugurated several projects executed by the Soludo administration, President Tinubu praised the governor’s innovative approach to governance.
“I visited Anambra State in May this year, where I inaugurated some projects executed by the Soludo administration. I highlighted the good thinking behind the landmark projects being embarked upon by Mr Solution. That experience is indeed remarkable and will remain indelible in my mind,” he said.
Tinubu also lauded Governor Soludo for injecting “discipline, grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective to governance,” noting that Anambra is truly living up to its motto as the ‘Light of the Nation’.
He urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory and extend a hand of fellowship to his opponents, stressing the importance of unity and cooperation in advancing the state’s development.
While assuring Soludo of the Federal Government’s support, President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration between the Federal and Anambra State governments.
The President further commended the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for conducting what observers have described as a credible election.
“I must also thank the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for conducting what observers have described as a credible election, based on the reports I have received thus far,” Tinubu said.
He urged the electoral body to sustain and improve on its standards to further deepen Nigeria’s democratic process.
