The Jigawa State Government, under Governor Umar Namadi, has initiated fresh talks with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) aimed at advancing agricultural development in the state.
Governor Namadi met with AGRA Chairman, Hailemariam Dessalegn, on the sidelines of the Africa Food Systems Summit 2025 in Dakar, Senegal, to explore areas of deeper collaboration.
Discussions centred on strategies to boost productivity, widen market access, and enhance the competitiveness of rice and wheat farmers in Jigawa. Both parties also considered aligning policies and governance frameworks for sustainable agricultural growth, alongside knowledge-sharing programmes to empower smallholder farmers and drive innovation.
