Fifty participants are expected to attend the Africa Level 2 Coaching Clinic, which is set to commence in Abuja on Friday. The programme forms part of sustained efforts to enhance the technical expertise of swimming coaches across Nigeria and improve athlete performance at both continental and international levels.
Taiwo Oriss, Secretary General of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAqF), said the event organised in collaboration with Africa Aquaticsseeks to familiarise coaches with the latest developments and best practices in the sport.

.“The aim is to equip and build capacity for our coaches across the nation with the required skills and bring them up to speed with modern trends and the ever-changing rules that govern the sport,” Oriss stated.
He observed that some Nigerian athletes had underperformed at competitions due to technical deficiencies, stressing that the clinic would enable coaches to meet international coaching standards.
“We are expecting a facilitator from South Africa, Cedric Finch, for the three-day theoretical and practical clinic at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja,” he added.
