2026 WAFCON: Super Falcons Thrash Egypt 6-2

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a commanding 6-2 victory over Egypt.

The nine-time African champions produced a clinical attacking performance, scoring six goals to book their place in the knockout stage of the tournament.

Asisat Oshoala gave Nigeria the lead from the penalty spot deep into first-half stoppage time before Gift Monday doubled the advantage 10 minutes after the restart.

Egypt reduced the deficit through N. Ghazy, who converted a penalty, but Uchenna Kanu restored Nigeria’s two-goal lead in the 81st minute.

Three minutes later, Chidinma Ucheibe calmly converted another penalty to make it 4-1.

Ghazy scored her second goal of the match in stoppage time to give Egypt hope, but the Super Falcons responded in emphatic fashion.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade converted a late penalty before Joy Omewa added Nigeria’s sixth goal to complete a convincing victory.

The result sends the Super Falcons into the quarter-finals, where they will face Cameroon, winners of Group D, as they continue their quest for another Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.
