Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen etched his name into Turkish football history on Wednesday night as he scored the decisive goal that secured Galatasaray’s triumph in the 2025 Turkish Cup final.

Osimhen’s clinical finish in the 73rd minute proved the difference in a tense encounter at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, where Galatasaray edged out arch-rivals Fenerbahçe 1–0 to lift the prestigious domestic trophy.

The Nigerian international, who joined the Istanbul giants earlier in the season, showcased his trademark speed and precision, latching onto a through ball before calmly slotting past the Fenerbahçe goalkeeper.

“It’s an incredible feeling to score in a final and help this great club win a trophy,” Osimhen said after the match. “The fans have been amazing, and I’m proud to contribute to this success.”

The victory marks Galatasaray’s first Turkish Cup title since 2019 and adds to their record haul in Turkish football. Manager Okan Buruk praised Osimhen’s impact, calling him “a true professional and a big-game player.”

Osimhen’s performance is expected to boost his confidence ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming international fixtures, with many fans hopeful that he will replicate his club form on the national stage.
