Nigeria defeated Saudi Arabia 3-2 on Friday in a Group F match at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Talca, Chile, earning three points and strengthening their chances of advancing to the Round of 16.

Nasiru Salihu put the Flying Eagles ahead in the 10th minute, before Saudi Arabia levelled through Amar Alyuhaybi in the 21st minute. Amos Ochoche restored Nigeria’s lead seven minutes before halftime, with the first half ending 2-1 in favour of the Flying Eagles.

Saudi Arabia’s Talal Haji equalised six minutes into the second half, but Nigeria clinched the win in stoppage time when captain Daniel Bameyi converted a penalty to make it 3-2.

The victory ensures that Nigeria will secure a place in the Round of 16 with at least a draw against Colombia on Monday.
