Troops of Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have intensified offensive operations against terrorists and bandits in Zamfara State, neutralising one terrorist, arresting suspected criminal collaborators and recovering logistics items linked to armed groups.
The Joint Task Force disclosed this in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, noting that the operations were conducted across several locations in the state.
According to the statement, troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, encountered terrorists during a fighting patrol to Birnin Tsaba and Tsanu villages in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area on 5 June 2026.

The encounter resulted in the neutralisation of one terrorist and the recovery of seven motorcycles believed to have been used to support criminal activities and mobility.
Troops also responded to an attack in Anguwar Sarkin Musulmi village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, forcing the assailants to retreat into surrounding areas.
The task force further responded to an attack on commuters along the Kaura Namoda–Zurmi Road, where terrorists ambushed two civilian vehicles between Jabanda and Dauran villages.

Security personnel secured the area, evacuated injured victims for medical treatment and continued tracking operations to locate the attackers and account for any missing passengers.
In another operation in Maru Local Government Area, troops arrested eight suspected bandits at Tudun Wada and recovered motorcycles, communication equipment, mobile phones, power banks, military-style uniforms and other items.
A structure linked to the suspects was also destroyed during the operation.
The statement added that troops arrested a suspected recipient of intercepted ammunition in Tupa village, Shinkafi Local Government Area, following intelligence-led operations.
The suspect remains in custody while investigations continue into possible links with wider criminal networks.
Operation Fansan Yamma urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations across the region.
