Theresa Emegwara Breaks Longest Makeup Record

Nigerian makeup artist Theresa Emegwara has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest makeup application by an individual.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos, her media aide, Robert Ekat, confirmed that Emegwara, popularly known as TesGlam, achieved the feat on August 19 at 7:15 a.m., after recording 103 hours, 25 minutes, and 34 seconds surpassing the previous mark.

Despite breaking the record, the 28-year-old is continuing her effort to reach a new milestone of 144 hours under her campaign tagged Glam 4-144.

Expressing appreciation to her supporters, she said:
“I am filled with immense gratitude and energy from the support of everyone cheering me on. This has really tested me; I have cried and nearly given up. We are not yet done the aim is 144 hours.”

The previous record was held by Ghana’s Akosua Mantey Roselyn, who set it on April 3, 2024.

Emegwara’s record-breaking attempt, which began on August 14 with Guinness World Records’ approval, is expected to last six days.

Her achievement joins other recent Nigerian record-breaking feats, including Tunde Onakoya’s chess marathon and Chef Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon.
