Nollywood filmmaker Funke Akindele, Falz, Kiekie, and other prominent creative figures recently shared their personal stories on the Chude Live Conversation Show.
During the show on Sunday night, entrepreneur and storyteller Chude Jideonwo introduced the debut episode of #WithChude Live. Jideonwo explained that the show was more than just a talk show; it was a space where laughter, vulnerability, wisdom, and healing converge.
He highlighted that the show provided an environment where individuals of all ages, particularly young Nigerians, could feel seen and heard, leaving the conversation inspired and uplifted.
Reflecting on her experience, Akindele emphasised that the show is a platform for people to connect with celebrities as they share their personal journeys, struggles, and triumphs.
Akindele shared a deeply personal moment, recounting how social media trolls had mocked her for not having a husband. “I see all the insults on social media. I see all the posts about how I left one husband for another.”
“I cried, cried, and cried. I just told myself I needed to speak to someone about this,” she said.

She explained how reaching out to a therapist helped her cope, saying, “It’s important to speak up. You can’t take everything. I’m a very strong person now, and I have the strength to face any challenges.”
Akindele also discussed her journey to surpassing one billion views at the box office with one of her films. She recalled how a filmmaker once told her that such a feat was impossible. “One of my priorities is to empower the next generation of filmmakers and create more movie stars in Nollywood,” she added.
Kiekie, a popular media personality, fashion influencer, and social media star, expressed her delight at being on the show. She said, “I feel privileged whenever I get to express myself before a live audience. I’m here for great conversations about career, work, and the industry.”
Falz, the rapper, songwriter, and actor, shared his thoughts on the #EndSARS protests, describing the period as one of the most challenging of his life.
“It was one of the craziest and toughest times in my life, but I have no regrets participating in the protest,” he said.
“More than anything, I appreciate how I participated in the struggle.”
Other personalities who shared their stories included comedian Bovi Ugboma, rapper and faith leader Pastor Jerry Eze, as well as Veekee James, Moses Bliss, Taaooma, and Hauwa Lawal. They discussed how they navigate the pressures of fame, online scrutiny, and maintaining mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
