Sokoto Government Approves Early February Salary Payment

The Sokoto State Government has authorised the advance payment of February salaries to civil servants and pensioners ahead of Ramadan.

Governor Dr Ahmed Aliyu approved the early disbursement, which takes effect on Friday, 13 February 2026. The directive covers employees in the State Civil Service, Local Government Councils, Local Government Education Authorities, as well as retirees.

Explaining the decision, the Director-General of Media and Publicity to the Governor, Malam Abubakar Bawa, said the measure is intended to ease financial pressure on workers and senior citizens as they prepare for the forthcoming Ramadan fast.

He described the move as part of the administration’s broader commitment to prioritising the welfare of public servants and pensioners across the state.

Malam Bawa further encouraged civil servants to demonstrate renewed dedication, punctuality, and diligence in the discharge of their responsibilities, noting that greater productivity is key to strengthening service delivery and advancing sustainable development in Sokoto State.
