Senate Confirms Six Commissioners for Revenue Mobilisation Commission

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of six commissioners for the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), reinforcing the Federal Government’s commitment to fiscal reform and equitable resource distribution.

The confirmation followed the presentation of a report by the Senate Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs, chaired by Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, who expressed confidence in the appointees’ competence and readiness to serve.

Those confirmed include Bello Abubakar Wammako (Sokoto), Hadizatu Uwani Muatapha (Borno), Senator Marafa Bashir Abba (Taraba), Ahmed Waziri Hassan (Adamawa), Bob Helen Inafa (Bayelsa), and Gboyega Oladele (Osun).

Presiding over the plenary, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau described the appointments as a call to national service, urging the commissioners to play active roles in advancing Nigeria’s fiscal restructuring and promoting balanced resource allocation.

The appointments come amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to review the country’s revenue-sharing formula. In August, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, tasked RMAFC with producing a new and equitable model to reflect Nigeria’s changing economic realities.
