The Presidency has dismissed as entirely false reports circulating online that a chef at the State House, Abuja, was arrested for allegedly attempting to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Addressing journalists on Sunday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Temitope Ajayi, categorically described the claims as unfounded when contacted regarding the allegation.
The clarification follows the spread of unverified reports across social media platforms, which claimed that a member of the Presidential Villa kitchen staff had been apprehended in connection with an alleged poisoning attempt on the President.
The reports, which lacked any credible sources or verifiable details, quickly gained attention online, sparking public speculation and concern.
The Presidency emphasised that no security agency has confirmed any investigation or arrest in relation to the claim, reiterating that it is entirely baseless.
Officials have in recent times warned against the circulation of false or misleading information, noting that such reports can erode public confidence in state institutions and create unnecessary alarm.
