The Oyo State Government has commenced strategic planning for the 2025 fiscal year with a four-day intensive training programme for senior officials from the state’s 33 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
The training, which took place at the Local Government Staff Training School within the State Secretariat in Ibadan, was designed to align local government budgeting processes with the National Chart of Accounts (NCOA), thereby promoting transparency, accountability, and uniformity across all LGAs.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, praised the proactive governance of the Seyi Makinde-led administration and described the initiative as a reflection of the government’s steadfast commitment to good governance and effective service delivery at the grassroots.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Professor Musbau Babatunde, reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to ensure consistent and harmonised budget practices throughout the state, particularly at the local level.
Lead consultant Dr Ayuba Onifade, commended the two ministries involved for facilitating the training and explained that the programme was tailored to equip local government personnel with the requisite skills to prepare the 2025 budget using a unified format in accordance with the NCOA.
The training is expected to strengthen the capacity of local government officials and ensure timely and accurate budget preparation that aligns with national standards.
