The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Yola Operations Office has presented a Commendation and Award of Excellence to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) 153 Base Services Group, Yola, Adamawa State, in recognition of its exceptional humanitarian service, professionalism, and steadfast partnership in disaster response and community support across the state.
Head of Operations for NEMA Yola, Mr Ladan Ayuba, praised the Base for its “uncommon dedication and selfless commitment” to humanitarian operations, noting its consistent role since 2014 in providing medical and logistical support to internally displaced persons (IDPs) during the insurgency and its decisive intervention during the July 2025 flood in Yola South Local Government Area.
Ayuba said the 153 Base had been instrumental in rescue operations, victim evacuation, emergency aid delivery, and the provision of security and logistics in times of crisis. He added that the award reflects the true spirit of inter-agency collaboration and national service.
The recognition covers a wide range of humanitarian efforts by the Base, including rescue transport, water supply to IDP camps, security during relief operations, and assistance in returning displaced persons to their communities.
