Kenyan runner Koros Ken has won the 2025 Enugu City International Marathon, taking home the top prize of $15,000, as athletes from Kenya swept the podium in both the men’s and women’s categories.
In the men’s race, Steve Rasway finished second, earning $10,000, while Bernard Sang secured third place and received $5,000.
The women’s event followed a similar pattern, with Kenya’s Shauline Chepkiru Koech emerging as the winner. Among Nigerian participants, Davou Ezekiel from Jos was the highest-placed local athlete, claiming the ₦3 million prize reserved for the top indigenous runner.
The marathon lived up to expectations, drawing a large turnout of international elite athletes, local competitors, and spectators. The event featured all the elements of a world-class race, including strong organisation and vibrant fan engagement.
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah added flair to the occasion by joining the 10km race. Reflecting on the event’s success, he praised the level of participation and competition.

“This race has demonstrated the unifying power of sport and its potential to engage our youth,” Governor Mbah said. “I am thoroughly impressed by what I’ve witnessed.”
He added that the experience has encouraged the state government to further invest in the marathon, with the aim of making it bigger and better in future editions.
More than one hundred international elite athletes participated, alongside thousands of Nigerian runners, as the Enugu City International Marathon concluded in remarkable fashion.
