Kaduna JSC Appoints New Chief Registrars for High Court, Sharia Court

The Kaduna State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has approved the appointment of two new Chief Registrars for the State High Court of Justice and the Sharia Court of Appeal.

The appointments, announced on Sunday, saw Mr Benjamin Hassan named Chief Registrar of the High Court of Justice, while Mr Muhammad Ali was appointed Chief Registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal.

In a statement issued in Kaduna, the Secretary of the JSC, Mr Murtala Halidu, confirmed that the appointments were approved by the commission under the chairmanship of the Chief Judge, Justice Muhammad Aliyu.

According to Halidu, the appointments followed “careful consideration of the track records, demonstrated competence and ability to perform the required duties.”

Additional appointments included the Deputy Chief Registrar of the State High Court of Justice, the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal, the Director of Administration, and other personnel within the Sharia Court of Appeal.

Halidu also noted that the commission had approved the promotion of 154 staff members, a change of cadre for 20 staff, two conversions, and one advancement.

“Additionally, the commission has introduced written examination and interview for individuals aspiring to be appointed as judicial officers.

“The commission will also commence written promotion examination for staff on Grade Level 07 and above,” he said.

He added that the commission congratulated the newly appointed officials and urged them to utilise their experience in legal practice to promote greater efficiency and transparency in their roles.
