The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Zamfara State has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible bye-election for the Kaura Namoda-South State Constituency, scheduled for August 16.

This assurance was given by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mahamud Isah, during the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials in Gusau on Thursday.

“We will ensure all materials are transported to the 109 polling units in good time to guarantee a smooth and transparent election process,” Isah stated.

The bye-election was necessitated by the vacancy created following the death of Hon. Aminu Kasuwar-Daji on April 9. Kasuwar-Daji had represented the constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The distribution exercise was witnessed by representatives of the eight political parties contesting the bye-election. These include the All Progressives Congress (APC), Accord Party (AP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Action Alliance (AA), Boot Party (BP), All Peoples Party (APP), and African Democratic Party (ADP).
