The Imo State Government has announced a partnership with ANOH Gas Processing Company Limited (AGPC) to enhance gas production and drive economic development in the state.
Governor Hope Uzodimma disclosed this in Abuja following a meeting with the company’s Managing Director, Effiong Okon, and his team.
The governor expressed delight at the completion of the ANOH Gas Plant, inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu in 2024, describing it as a significant milestone for Imo’s economy.
“This development will not only bring joy to the people of Imo but also stimulate our economy, create jobs, and place the state on the global map as a gas-producing region,” Uzodimma stated.
He pledged the state government’s full cooperation and urged the company to support Imo’s development efforts. He also encouraged AGPC to establish a functional office in the state to facilitate the supply of clean energy.
“Nigeria is on the rise, and we will continue to support the ANOH project to ensure a win-win outcome for all stakeholders,” he added.

Effiong Okon, Managing Director of AGPC, noted that the company is a 50:50 equity joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and Seplat Energy.
Okon explained that Imo was chosen due to its rich gas reserves, with the field discovered in the 1960s holding approximately 40 trillion cubic feet of gas and 200 million barrels of condensates.
He added that since the plant’s inauguration in May 2024, preparations have been underway for production, which is set to begin in July.
“From July, Imo will be among Nigeria’s major gas-producing states. Our facility is built to process 300 million standard cubic feet of gas daily, supplying both the energy and domestic LPG markets,” Okon said.
