FMATCE Congratulates Hilda Baci on Historic Jollof Rice Achievement

The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy (FMACTCE) has congratulated Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci on her achievement in cooking the largest pot of jollof rice, describing it as a milestone that goes beyond the kitchen and reflects Nigeria’s cultural pride.

In a post on X on Sunday, the Ministry said Baci’s feat was “more than just a culinary record.”

“This accomplishment is a celebration of Nigeria’s vibrant culture, the creativity of our people, and the limitless potential of our youth,” it noted. “We are proud to stand with Hilda as she makes history and continues to project Nigeria’s story to the world.”

Baci, who gained global recognition in 2023 after setting a Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon, has since become a symbol of innovation, resilience and cultural diplomacy. Her latest achievement has also reignited the long-standing West African rivalry over jollof rice, a dish that holds a central place in Nigeria’s food identity.

The Ministry stressed that her success aligns with government efforts to harness the creative economy as a vehicle for global cultural influence. By bringing Nigerian cuisine to the world stage, it said, Baci has shown how food can serve as both storytelling and national branding.

Observers note that her new record represents not only a personal triumph but also a testament to the ingenuity of Nigerian youth, many of whom are using food, music, film and art to shape the country’s global image.
