FCTA to Launch Project Breathe Clean Air Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under Minister Nyesom Wike, will on Saturday, November 15, 2025, launch Project Breathe Clean Air Abuja, a landmark initiative aimed at promoting clean cooking gas (LPG) as a safer and healthier alternative to firewood and charcoal.

With the theme “Renewing Hope, One Household at a Time,” the launch, supported by IHS Nigeria, will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja. The event will convene environmental and health experts, students, development partners, policymakers, and other key stakeholders.

The initiative seeks to reduce health risks linked to household air pollution, protect the environment, and promote sustainable living across the capital city.

Speaking ahead of the launch, FCTA Mandate Secretary, Dr Dolapo Fasawe, said the project is strategically designed to advance public health and environmental sustainability.

She expressed appreciation to Minister Wike for backing the programme and commended IHS Nigeria for their commitment to its success.

As part of the six-month programme, the FCTA plans to distribute 5,000 gas cylinders across the six area councils of the FCT, encouraging households to transition from firewood and charcoal to clean cooking gas.
