The Ebonyi State Government has approved the recruitment of 35 guest artistes to replace retired members of the state’s Arts and Culture Council.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chief Ikeuwa Omebe, announced this in Abakaliki while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting.
Omebe said the move was designed to revitalise the state’s cultural troupe with new talents.
“The new artistes will fill existing vacancies in the troupe to perform the expected entertainment roles of the council,” he explained.
He noted that the artistes would include dancers, dramatists, choral singers, and instrumentalists.

The commissioner also disclosed that the government had approved the inauguration of a pool service building and swimming pool at the state’s Olympic Sports Centre.
“The inauguration is in line with the governor’s practical vision to elevate the standard of sports infrastructure and youth development in the state,” Omebe said.
He added that the project would be executed by P-Doings Integrated Services Limited, while the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports had been directed to review the proposal and report back to EXCO.
