The All-Progressives Congress (APC) is set to conduct its presidential primary election across the country’s 8,809 wards to select its flagbearer for the 2027 general election.
The exercise, which will be conducted through the direct primary, is expected to witness massive participation by registered party members nationwide. Party officials say the decision to adopt direct primaries reflects the APC’s commitment to internal democracy and grassroots participation.
Ahead of the exercise, the party has intensified consultations and logistical preparations to ensure a smooth, transparent and credible process. Electoral materials and officials have reportedly been deployed to various states and wards in readiness for the nationwide exercise.

Stanley Osifo is the only candidate vying against President Bola Tinubu for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the primary election.
Political observers say the outcome of the primary will shape the APC’s strategy ahead of the 2027 presidential election and define the party’s direction in the coming months.
Security agencies are also expected to monitor the exercise closely to ensure law and order during the voting process. The party leadership has urged members to conduct themselves peacefully and abide by the guidelines governing the primary election.
The party noted that results from the wards would be collated at the local government level before being transmitted to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja.
