Final Ballot Papers Arrive Ahead of Zambia's 2026 Elections

The final consignment of ballot papers for Zambia’s 2026 general elections arrived in Lusaka on Thursday, ahead of the commencement of stakeholder verification on Friday.

The shipment arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Thursday morning aboard a chartered aircraft from Dubai and was received by Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) officials in the presence of political party representatives, civil society groups, faith‑based organisations and the media.

The first batch of ballot papers arrived on Wednesday.

Verification of the ballot papers with stakeholders will now commence on Friday,” ECZ chief electoral officer Brown Kasaro said.

The ballot paper checks form part of Zambia’s standard transparency measures ahead of national polls.

Zambia heads to the polls on 13 August to elect a president, members of parliament and local government leaders.

The election comes amid heightened political activity and public debate over economic reforms, governance and service delivery.

The commission has said it is working to ensure that all electoral materials are delivered, verified and distributed on schedule.
